The Carto Group is pleased to announce the addition of Shaun Landy to the expanding team as a Gaming Technical Developer.
Shaun has been with the company for a number of months while he completed his MSc at University of the West of England in Bristol. The Carto Group is extremely excited that he has chosen the company as his first stepping stone on his gaming career.
TCG identified some time ago that gaming expertise was a key to delivering business critical geospatial augmented reality (AR) services to multiple industry and consumer sectors. With the launch of CartoAR, a geospatial AR framework and hardware reseller, Shaun’s decision to join the company is very important.
CEO Tim Hughes said: “Shaun will work closely with Nicholas Duggan (CTO) and Dave Rowe (Principal Developer) to take the CartoAR service to our existing partners and a ever growing customer list.
“Shaun is already getting acknowledgement for his initial work with AR hardware, like DAQRI and Microsoft Hololens and we cannot wait to get applications working to solve real world construction challenges. He has also been working on a smart cities smart phone application in Kuwait, where his mathematical expertise has been tested by developing new smartphone gesture technology for Unity,” Tim added.
One of Shaun’s first tasks has been to develop a FactoryAR application for a global manufacturer and Rail Asset Management proof of concept for High Speed 2#s Hackathon at Transport Systems Catapult – in which TCG were finalists – both projects leveraging AR and geospatial technology.
Next on the list is for Shaun to continue testing positional accuracy for AR hardware and for him to “digitally enable” the Swindon Town Centre wooden architect’s model to show economic development projects in AR across the town.
Welcome to the team Shaun!
